Mr Heater 30000 BTU Propane Heater Features
Wall mounting. Put this natural gas heater anywhere. If has an option to wall mount it, but if that’s not your style just use the feet as a stand on set it anywhere.
Oxygen sensor. A must has for any fuel-burning heater. It’s internal sensor makes sure to shut the unit off if it notices the oxygen levels in the room are getting close to where they shouldn’t be. This feature alone pus it on top – it’s a space heater for your house as well as a gas garage heater.
Thermostat. An adjustable thermostat just makes things much more convenient keeping the garage at a constant and comfortable temperature. A lot of heaters don’t actually have this option, but it really is very convenient to have.
The heater itself is natural gas fueled and vent free (so it’s suitable for indoor use). It produces a solid 30,000 BTUs from this compact heater, making it suitable for large and small garages alike. Anything up to 600 square feet would be very suitable for this natural gas heater.
How Much Propane does a 30,000 btu Heater use?
The burn rate of propane is around 100,000 btu’s per hour, so if you plan on running your Mr. Heater 30,000 btu heater you’ll use around one third (1/3) of a gallon per hour of use.
It heats up a room relatively fast, not quite as fast as some of the more commercial powerful gas heaters but faster than an electric heater does. Expect around 20 to 30 minutes for a 600 square foot space.
The heater burns at 99.9 percent efficiency, so no need to worry about wasted energy. A built in blower fan is included for extra heat circulation in the room and the spark ignition makes starting it a breeze (powered by the AA battery). The fan isn’t a necessity to use this unit, but it definitely helps with the heat distribution within the room.
This particular model comes with a 2 year warranty, twice as long as the usual amount. This is a testament to its quality make and efficient nature.
Price wise it’s in the middle, but when taking into consideration it’s safety features and potential for garage use as well as around the house it is definitely worth it.
Overall this is a very good natural gas heater for the money. It is my preference in terms of gas burning heaters – it doesn’t have that gas burning smell which is a major plus for me. Being able to use it in any room of the house is a real benefit in those cold winter months. If you remember the blackout in the wintertime a few years ago you’ll understand why having an efficient natural gas heater that’s usable in the house is extremely important, even if it’s simply your backup heater.
